Quality Should be Part of the Culture in the Government Civil Service
Unless and until the quality culture has seeped into the bloodstream of each individuals and organisations, any effort to bring about quality initiatives will be met with obstacles and possibly failure. This was said by Dr Razali Abon, Director of the Human Resource Development & Quality Unit (Chief Ministers' Department) on behalf of the Deputy State Secretary, Datu Haji Salleh bin Haji Sulaiman at the close of the Sarawak 2nd IQC 2002 at a leading hotel in Kuching. Themed " Sharing Leaders' Best Quality Practices" , the 2-day Congress which began 25 September, 2002 brought nine international and local speakers who shared with us the latest tools and methods in quality practices from around the world. Leaders at various levels in the organisations must realise that quality initiatives can only be successful if it has the support and driven by quality leaderships. The various quality initiatives, including the Sarawak IQC is a firm commitment of the government to continue to promote quality movement in the state.
